Katie is hardly alone in wanting the truth about the two deaths at Il Giardino. She just may be the most determined, outwitting even the LAPD. Katie discusses the mystery with restaurant manager Deacon and his number one server, Sheila. They feel the loss of busboy/musician Tom and bartender Hollis more than anyone. Their deaths are weighing heavy on their hearts.
Sheila and Deacon were outraged that she was taken in for questioning as a suspect. Sheila may have done some things that seemed slightly suspicious, but these two people were her co-workers and friends. Perhaps Sheila lets Katie know in no uncertain terms that she would have no reason to kill Hollis or Tom. Katie doesn’t think that she did it, anyway.
That would lead Katie back to her number one suspect, Poppy. She believes Poppy would eliminate Tom to keep her ideal life with Bill and Luna. Katie did her internet sleuthing to find out that Poppy and Tom were an item way back when, but Katie needed more proof. Now, it appears she stumbles across the clue that makes everything make sense.
